Fishing Report -
June and July 2008
June has come and gone, but not without leaving a
big impression. What a speckle trout season we are having. I haven't
landed anything
over 4 3/4 lbs., but I've landed a lot of trout over 4 lbs. Flounder
season hasn't been too shabby. I'm catching a lot of flounder and
about 50% of them have been over the 14" limit. I haven't
caught a lot of red drum. Largely due to the fact that I haven't
been targeting them. I feel with the water temperature reaching
90 + degrees in the shallows, the mortality rate on released fish(especially
the larger ones) is pretty high. I'm still getting 2 or 3 a trip.
If July hold true to years pass it'll be better than June. The early
morning top water action can get you blood boiling all day. I catch
trout, spottails, and flounder on top water.
July is booking up fast but I still have 11 days open.
